North Idaho’s Myrick Commits To Cincinnati

So the audition didn’t go too smoothly. The end result worked out for North Idaho College’s Shawn Myrick.

With Cincinnati men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins watching at Christianson Gym, Myrick sprained his ankle early in a rat-ball game on Tuesday.

No matter. Myrick said he made an oral commitment to Cincinnati later Tuesday evening. He will sign a letter of intent this weekend when he visits Cincinnati.

“I managed to come back (after the injury) and play a little bit,” said Myrick, who is on crutches.

Myrick, the leading scorer in the NJCAA Tournament last month, averaged 16 points per game during the regular season. He was selected second-team all-Region 18.

The sophomore guard from Maysville, Ky., had narrowed his recruiting choices to Cincinnati, Houston and Pedderdine. He also visited James Madison.

“Cincinnati is close to home and it’s a good conference,” Myrick said. ” He (Huggins) told me I have a good chance, but he said he didn’t know who will be starting.”
