They have no sponsor and no commitment of community support yet, but Big West Conference commissioner Dennis Farrell and Boise State University athletic director Gene Bleymaier will try next week to sell an NCAA committee on the idea of a new postseason football bowl game in Boise.
And to sweeten the pot for potential local backers, Farrell and Bleymaier on Friday promoted the idea of making the proposed Dec. 29 bowl game at Bronco Stadium the centerpiece of a “Winter Festival.”
They met with local civic leaders later Friday to pitch the proposal.
“We’re here to assess what interest the corporate community has with getting behind this game,” Farrell said. “That’s going to be absolutely essential if this game is going to come off in this city.”
