Capacity For Racial Hatred, Ignorance Isn’t Just A Guy Thing

We know it might be a little bit of a prejudice on our part, but we’re always surprised to discover that women are involved in the white separatist movement. It just seems like more of a guy thing. All that black-and-white thinking and the exclusion talk. We stereotype women, perhaps, as peacemakers and as wanting to include everyone in matters of work and love.

So it was a shock to call the Aryan Information Network - (208) 665-9988 - and discover that a woman gives the weekly report of happenings in the white power world. The message changes weekly. Here are excerpts from two recent messages:

“We are based in North Idaho which we fondly call the last white bastion. For those of us that have ever lived in non-white infested areas in this country, this is a piece of heaven on Earth. The only downfall is the so-called human rights activists intent on destroying this beautiful land. It is a rare day we happen on a non-white in this community. The only thing better than that would be to cleanse our community and never see them again.

“There are no ghettos simply because we have not allowed non-whites into our neighborhoods to destroy them and turn them into ghettos. Remember - white power.

“This Sunday April 20 is Adolph Hitler’s birthday. Adolph Hitler was one of, if not THE greatest, white man. Spend Sunday celebrating his life by reading ‘Mein Kamph.’ Talk to your children about their wonderful Aryan heritage.”

We didn’t print the worst of the message. She uses some predictable obscenities to describe African Americans. The only consoling part of the message is that the woman didn’t seem too bright. She had some grammar mistakes in her messages that indicated a lack of education. And she had a slight accent. She sounded as if she was from the East originally, or maybe the Midwest. Hard to tell. Maybe there’s a chance she didn’t learn all that nonsense growing up in Idaho.

Is this snobbery on our part? Perhaps, but we’re searching for explanations why a woman would get involved in so much hate. Ignorance she learned somewhere else is one answer. If anyone out there has a better explanation, let us know. In the meantime, call the number and see for yourself, though the message might be sanitized after this article runs.

On a lighter note: “Daughters,” a newsletter for parents of girls ages 8 to 18, recommends that you rent one of these movies and watch it with your daughter. Each movie features a strong woman role model. The movies include:

“My Brilliant Career”

“His Girl Friday”

“The Turning Point”

“Coal Miner’s Daughter”

“Fried Green Tomatoes”

“Norma Rae”

“Julia”

“Steel Magnolias”
