Flores Torrid In Texas

David Flores rode 1996 Longacres Mile winner Isitingood to an upset victory over Eclipse Award winner Skip Away in the $250,000 Texas Mile at new Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. Then, Flores and Kentucky Derby hopeful Anet outlasted Frisk Me Now and Wild Wonder to win the $250,000 Lone Star Derby.

Marlin, ridden by late replacement Eddie Delahoussaye, dug in along the rail and came away with a half-length victory in Grade I San Juan Capistrano Handicap on the turf at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif. Sunshack and African Dancer finished in a dead heat for second.

Touch Gold may have joined the ranks of Kentucky Derby candidates by pulling away for an 8-1/2-length victory in the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky.
