Neo-Nazis Mark Hitler’s Birthday

Associated Press

More than 200 neo-Nazis celebrating Hitler’s birthday were detained over the weekend, most of them in eastern Germany, police said Sunday.

In the largest single detention, police in Leipheim, southwestern Germany, took 73 skinheads into custody after they had assembled at a lake to sing banned German military songs.

There were scattered reports of violence. Police arrested 13 people in the eastern city of Magdeburg after a group of rightists shouting “Sieg Heil” damaged a Turkish-run fastfood counter.

Near Magdeburg, in Schoenebeck, four suspects were arrested in an arson attack on a shelter for refugees.
