EV Girls Move Into Second Place

Sara McIntyre’s two-out single in the bottom of the ninth inning drove in Loni Kurtz as East Valley edged Colville 1-0 in a Frontier League softball game Tuesday night.

Rebecca Triplett raised her record to 4-2 for the Knights (7-2), who moved past Colville (6-2) into second place.

Tarrah Brown suffered the loss, even though she struck out 17.

Both teams had just one error.

Ginger Ewing had four hits and scored three runs as the Blackhawks beat the Rams at Riverside.

Steph Montag drove in two runs in a five-run fifth when Cheney put the game away.

Tucker Urdahl hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning and allowed only one earned run as the Blackhawks (10-0) maintained a big league lead by beating the Bantams (6-5) on the road.

Urdahl scattered five hits and struck out 11, but he also had six walks and the Blackhawks had five errors. Matt Corrath helped by going 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Raymond Ruiz had three hits and drove in a pair of runs and Bill Tincup had two hits and three RBIs as the Knights (6-6) rolled past the Rams (1-9) at EV.

Tony Pass scored once in each half as the Knights (9-0-0) remained undefeated with the win over the visiting Bantams (4-6).

EV fired 26 shots at Russell Legg, who made 17 saves. Pass scored his first goal when Jessie Connor’s shot deflected off his foot. The second came on a rebound and gave him nine goals this season.

Nick Reynolds scored two goals, giving him 19 for the season, as the Blackhawks (8-1) remained in second place by beating the Indians (1-8) on the road.

Reynolds’ goal early in the second half started a four-goal outburst that put the game away.

Carlos Simmons scored in the final minute to give the Cardinals (2-5-2) a tie with the visiting Greyhounds (0-8-2).

Matt Steele set up the winning goal, the first of the season for Simmons.

Pullman’s Trevor Sharp scored 20 minutes in when his shot hit the post and deflected in.

Ryan Baker scored scored his 14th goal in the 68th minute as R/DP (6-2-1) tied the Eagles (4-4-1) at WV.

Quinn Sharpe, who had his sixth goal in the first half off an assist from Chad McKay, assisted on McKay’s fourth goal early in the second half for the Eagles.

Sam Fleetwood scored the opening goal, his first of the season, for R/DP.
