Far West Classic Is History

The Far West Classic, one of the nation’s oldest holiday college basketball tournaments, is no more. Even though the Portland tournament drew a two-session record crowd of 25,565 last December, it is being dropped after 40 years because of budget and scheduling difficulties.

Angela Beck, the all-time winningest coach in Nebraska women’s basketball history, is resigning and will become the assistant general manager and head coach of the American Basketball League’s San Jose Lasers, a team that went 18-22 last year.
