Man, 92, Dies Of Aids After Hooker Bit Him

Compiled From Wire Services

An elderly West Palm Beach man who was bitten by an HIV-infected prostitute died of AIDS and his death has been ruled a homicide, officials said Tuesday.

A criminal investigation into the death of Elmer Hutto, 92, will be opened to determine whether murder charges will be filed against his attacker.

In 1995, Hutto became the first person confirmed through DNA testing to have contracted the HIV virus through a human bite.

Naomi K. Morrison bit Hutto on the hand, arm and leg during a robbery on Aug. 24, 1994. She asked for money and tried to grab his wallet, officials said, but he resisted.

If murder charges are filed, the action would break ground in South Florida, state attorney spokesman Mike Edmondson said.

Morrison, 23, was sentenced in February 1995 to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years’ probation after she pleaded guilty to aggravated battery on a senior citizen, robbery and burglary.
