When You’re Barely 21, Five Years Are An Eternity

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Thanks to a supermarket tabloid, we now know that Jerry Seinfeld and Shoshanna Lonstein are no longer a couple.

Not that anyone was required to notice.

The first indication was a recent photograph in the tabloid Globe that showed Lonstein kissing a man - but not Seinfeld - in New York’s Chinatown.

Then the New York Post picked up the story, convincing some of Seinfeld’s friends to confirm that the couple had broken up in February.

Seinfeld, 42, and Lonstein, 21, had been dating for five years. A senior at UCLA, Lonstein returned to New York following the breakup.

“It’s not something they felt they should have to comment on,” a source told the Post. “There was no nasty scene. They both just knew it was time for a break.”

Loose talk

Patricia Arquette being charitable about her movie-star peers (in W magazine): “I know I have a big bust, but I don’t feel that I’m better than anyone who’s had implants.”

Chances are her mirror has many more than two faces

Barbra Streisand turns 55 today.

Hutton sounds the cry of Baby Boomer pride

There’s joy in aging, claims 53-year-old Lauren Hutton. In the inaugural issue of MORE magazine, the model-actress claims to not “feel disadvantaged at all next to a 20- or 30-year-old woman. If you’ve kept a well-toned body… you can have a helluva time in bed…. And sex is easier, more comfortable than ever, still the most fun I’ve ever had.”

He’ll cut his hair, adopt an accent, etc., etc., etc.

Dean Cain’s next career move may not be exactly super, but it should be a nice stage for him. Literally. The “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” TV star is taking over Lou Diamond Phillips’ role in the Broadway revival of the musical “The King and I.” Phillips will take up to three months off, beginning in June, to do a movie.

For Kate, Spence was the only ‘during’ who counted

In Christopher Anderson’s forthcoming celeb study “An Affair to Remember,” he outlines the various relationships that Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy had before and during their longtime affair. His before list included Joan Crawford, Judy Garland and Loretta Young, while notable “durings” included Grace Kelly, Ingrid Bergman and Gene Tierney. Hepburn’s “befores” included Howard Hughes and Leland Hayward.

The Yogi Berra of politics strikes again

Haven’t heard from Dan Quayle in a while. While speaking last weekend at Hofstra University, the former vice president talked about the necessity of cutting red tape in Food and Drug Administration approval processes for new medications. “You need to take these life-threatening drugs seriously and get them on the market,” he said.
