Moody Blues Contest Aids Food Drive

Max’s Subs and Espresso is giving away a $200 Moody Blues concert package in an effort to collect donations for the Spokane Valley Food Bank.

Entry fee for the concert contest is a donation of a non-perishable food item to the food bank. Donations must be made at the sandwich and coffee shop at 9223 E. Montgomery. Entry is limited to one per person per day, but contestants don’t have to buy anything to be eligible to win.

All of the food collected will be donated to the Spokane Valley Food Bank.

The concert package contains two reserved-seat tickets to the Memorial Day weekend concert at the Gorge Amphitheater, a room at the Best Western Hallmark Inn in Moses Lake, and a $10 gift certificate for gas at the Holiday Co., Inc.

The drawing for the May 23 concert will be held on May 12.

CV bond rating upgraded

An increase in Central Valley’s bond rating places it among the highest rated school district’s in eastern Washington.

Moody’s Investors Service increased the district’s municipal bond rating from A to A1 last week. Standard & Poors rates the district as Double-A minus.

Several urban western Washington district, including Kent, Edmonds and Shoreline have equivalent ratings.

Moody’s increase was based on the district’s stable finances, sustained economic growth and sound management practices, said Seafirst Bank officials, who underwrote the district’s bond offering.

Proceeds from the district’s bond offering are being used to build a new Liberty Lake Elementary school and remodel existing schools.

EV’s Spring String Fling
