WSU’s Waltz Takes Second In Discus

Washington State University’s Ian Waltz of Post Falls took second place in the discus at the Penn Relays Friday with a throw of 182-feet, 5-inches.

Waltz placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 57-5.

WSU teammate Anna Church finished eighth in the women’s javelin with a throw of 145-9.

The Cougars men’s distance medley relay team of Guillermo Macias, Eric Kamau, Rasto Kiplangat and Bernard Lagat finished fifth with a time of 9:41.08.

The women’s 400 relay team of Sharika Higgins, LaTroya Mucker, Tamika Brown and Attrina Higgins ran a 46.55 in the section races and placed 11th overall.

Meanwhile, a masterful anchor leg by Seneca Lassiter carried Arkansas’ men to victory in the distance medley relay for the sixth time in seven years and the 10th in 13 years.

Georgetown won the men’s sprint medley relay for the first time since 1927 with a clocking of 3:14.79.

Villanova’s women won a second distance relay in two days, taking the 6,000 in 17:29.32. Louisiana State extended its domination in the women’s 400 relay to three years.
