Brad Faxon took his turn atop what has been a crowded leaderboard in the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic, shooting a tournament-low 65 to share the third-round lead with Tom Kite at 202.

Faxon and Kite hold a three-shot margin over four players at 11-under, including 1994 U.S. Open champion Ernie Els and former Pullman resident Kirk Triplett.

Hale Irwin, seeking his fourth victory in seven official tournaments this year, shot a 6-under 65 to take a two-shot lead over John Jacobs and Isao Aoki going into the final round of the Las Vegas Senior Classic.

At Madrid, Australian Greg Norman shot a 4-under-par 68 to take a one-stroke lead in the Spanish Open after the third round.

Using an eagle-3 from the fairway on No. 13, Nancy Lopez built a one-stroke lead with two holes to play in the suspended second round of the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship at Stockbridge, Ga.

A 2-hour, 41-minute rain delay kept the field of 143 from completing the round before darkness. Clarkston’s Robin Walton shot a 75 for a 155 total.

Gary Lindeblad of Indian Canyon Golf Course finished second in the professional competition of the Graphic Arts Center Pro-Am at Vancouver, Wash., this week’s stop of the Pacific Northwest Section Tour.

Lindeblad carded a 68, one stroke behind Chuck Milne of Vanco Golf Range in Vancouver, and earned $250. Former Spokane star Chris Mitchell, with a 69, tied for third and earned $172.50, while Spokane’s Mark Rohde shot 71 to tie for 14th.
