Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase
A Spokane man was arrested Friday after he led police on a high-speed chase against oncoming traffic - running red lights, stop signs and narrowly escaping at least one head-on collision.
James F. Sherman, 30, was jailed for driving with a suspended license, attempting to elude an officer, driving on the wrong side of the road and speeding.
An officer spotted the car at about 3:30 a.m. in an alley. When the officer tried to stop the car, Sherman hit the gas - reaching speeds of 60 mph near the east 500 block of Indiana.
Police found the car, abandoned, on North Crescent. A female passenger was hiding nearby in someone’s back yard. Sherman was found along East Upriver Drive.
The passenger was not arrested.
