Retro-Active They Were Everyday Clothes To The Brady Bunch, But Now The ‘70s Look Is The Hottest Thing Going

There are a lot of things from the past people wish they would have saved: That box of baseball cards with the rookie Mickey Mantle. An original Barbie in her black-and-white striped swimsuit. A Partridge Family lunch box.

Who knew that it would one day be worth a small fortune? Who could have guessed those “Dukes of Hazzard” action figures might have been your ticket to a life of luxury in Tahiti?

We live and learn.

One category of old possessions tossed out without a second thought were clothes, especially the styles from 20 or 30 years ago. Almost everyone was glad to get rid of the polyester bell-bottoms, velour scrimpy tops, stove-pipe leg painter pants and double-knit dresses.

But, as Gomer Pyle would have said, “Surprise, surprise, surprise!”

Those hideous reminders of the past should have been kept, too, because it would have saved a small fortune when it comes to shopping for back-to-school this year.

Gen X’s love affair with anything and everything retro continues, with fall looks focusing on the best and worst of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
