Dollar Ends Mostly Higher
The dollar hit another 8-year high against the mark Monday and rose in most other currency dealings, buoyed by forecasts of further gains and diminished chances of higher German interest rates.
Weaker-than-expected industrial output data from Germany and expectations that German July unemployment data due Wednesday would show more jobless people persuaded currency traders that recent speculation of a rate increase by the Bundesbank was overdone.
