Second Murder In Two Days Hits Downtown Seattle

From Staff And Wire Reports

A young man was fatally shot downtown early Thursday, just one block from the site of a fatal shooting Wednesday.

Aside from the locations - in south downtown near Pioneer Square - the two slayings did not appear to be related, police spokeswoman Christie Lynne Bonner said.

Minh Q. Huynh, 22, of Seattle died of gunshot wounds to the torso, the King County medical examiner’s office determined.

An officer heard shots at about 2:45 a.m. The victim’s body was found about 3 a.m. in a small park at Fifth Avenue and Yesler Way.

Other people in the park told investigators they heard shots, but did not see what led up to the shooting, Bonner said.

Huynh was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was declared dead within the hour, spokesman Larry Zalin said.
