Bruins Sign Thornton

Compiled From Wire Services

The Boston Bruins officially signed No. 1 draft pick Joe Thornton, 18, to a three-year contract. The center will earn the entry-level maximum of $925,000 per year, but incentives could push the pact close to $3 million annually.

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks will name former Calgary Flames coach Pierre Page their coach today, an NHL source confirmed. Page would replace Ron Wilson, who was fired in May after leading the team into the playoffs for the first time.
