Corporate Travel Costs Jump 24% In 6 Months

Corporate travel officers are finding themselves paying out more for employees’ airline tickets.

American Express, which tracks the cost of corporate travel with a business airfare index, finds prices for tickets aimed at the business traveler rose an average 24 percent from January through June over the same period in 1996.

But American Express also said it’s seen a steady increase in the number of business trips.
