Mcchord Crew Helps Transport Guam Crash Victims To Texas For Burn Treatment

Associated Press

A crew from McChord Air Force Base on Saturday airlifted four critically injured victims of a jet crash in Guam to San Antonio, Texas, for burn treatment.

The four were taken by Air Force crews on a C-141 Starlifter from Guam to Hawaii.

A six-member Air Force Reserve crew from McChord took over the plane there and was to arrive at Kelly Air Force Base near San Antonio on Saturday afternoon.

The patients were to be taken to the Institute of Surgical Research, which specializes in burn treatments and research, at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

All four were in critical condition. They included one American, Grace Chung, 11, of Atlanta, whose mother, brother and sister died in the crash. The other three patients were from Korea.

The Korean Air Boeing 747 jet hit a hilltop while trying to land Wednesday on the Pacific island of Guam, killing 225 people.
