Marvin Bailey Spokane

Visitation for Marvin D. Bailey, 82, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Mausoleum at Fairmount Memorial Park. There will be private entombment.

Mr. Bailey, who died Monday, was born in Woodward, Okla.

He served in the Army during World War II and moved to Spokane in 1947. He worked as a sales representative.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine; and a sister, Mary Virginia Weston.

Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ.

Thelma Clough Deer Park

Memorial service for Thelma J. Clough, 82, is planned for 3 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clough, who was born in Wallace, died Monday.

She was a licensed practical nurse and worked for nursing homes in the Spokane area.

She was a resident of the Deer Park and Spokane areas for 75 years.

Mrs. Clough was a member of the Licensed Practical Nurses’ Association.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Chester; a son, Dick Clough of Deer Park; a sister, Victoria Walden of Osburn, Idaho; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Opal Doggett Spokane

Graveside service for Opal Mae Doggett, 89, was Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mrs. Doggett, who was born in Herford, Texas, died Sunday.

She had been a resident of the Spokane area since 1935 and was a laundry worker at Eastern State Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph Doggett Jr. of Vancouver, Wash., and Jim Doggett of Spokane; two daughters, Betty Rasler and Thelma Mitchell, both of Spokane; a brother, Gyle Rich of Pendelton, Ore.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dave Garber Latah, Wash.

Service for Dave Garber, 80, was Tuesday at the Latah Country Bible Church. Masonic graveside service followed at the Latah Cemetery.

Mr. Garber, a lifetime Latah resident, died Friday.

He was a farmer in the Latah area.

He was a member of Opportunity Christian Church, El Katif Shrine and the Waverly Masonic Lodge 231.

Survivors include by his wife of 60 years, Helen; three daughters, Janice Heckathorn of Port Angeles, Wash., Karen Hill of Ogalalla, Neb., and Louise Inchauspe of Spokane; a son, Loren Garber of Latah; two sisters, Vivian Doty of Everett and Ethel Dodson of Spokane; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Latah/Waverly Ambulance Defibrillator Fund at the Bank of Fairfield.

Barbara Rykus Chisolm Surrey, British Columbia

Service for Barbara Rykus Chisolm, 46, was Monday in Surrey.

Mrs. Chisolm, who was born in Spokane, died Monday.

She was a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School and attended Colorado Women’s College. She worked as an art sculptor and was a homemaker.

She moved to British Columbia several years ago.

Mrs. Chisolm was a lifetime member of Hadassah.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick; two daughters, Chantal and Stephanie Adelburg, both of Surrey; her parents, Sam and Ruth Rykus of Spokane; two sisters, Annette Betcher of Port Orchard, Wash., and Robin Lawson of Portland; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Murray Youth Fund in care of Temple Beth Shalom.

Jerald Kiehn Pasadena, Calif.

Graveside service for Jerald James Kiehn, a former Ritzville and Odessa, Wash., resident, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kiehn, 54, died July 23.

He was born in Odessa, Wash.

He was a manager at an entertainment center and had lived in Ritzville and Odessa for 35 years.

He is survived by a brother, Melvin Kiehn of Ritzville.

Edward Ramsey Medical Lake

Memorial service for Edward J. Ramsey, 63, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.

Born in Boston, Mr. Ramsey died Monday.

He served in the Air Force in Korea, England and Italy. He served in the Vietnam War and retired at Fairchild Air Force Base as master sergeant after 26 years.

He married Janet Axe in Oxford, England, in 1962.

Mr. Ramsey worked for Safeco Insurance for 15 years until 1996.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Edward and Patrick Ramsey, both of Medical Lake, and Timothy Ramsey of Spokane; a brother, Clarence Ramsey, and a sister, Nancy Ramsey, both of Boston; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Medical Lake Fire Department.

Blanche Jones Spokane

Private cremation for Blanche E. Jones, 84, will be held. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Jones, who was born in Mansfield, Wash., died Friday.

She worked as a receptionist in physician’s offices and lived in Spokane for 20 years.

Survivors include a son, Bill Sims of Middle Island, N.Y.; two brothers ; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

David Scarborough Jr. Plummer, Idaho

Service for David Lee Scarborough Jr., 15, will be at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Desmet, Idaho. Burial Mass and burial will follow at the Desmet Mission Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Tekoa, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Scarborough, who was born in Spokane, died Monday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He grew up in Plummer and attended school there. He completed his freshman year at Lakeside High School in Plummer.

He was a member of the Roots and Wings in school. He also participated in the Native American traditions including the sweat lodge, dancing and playing the flute. He was in the Youth Leadership Program at the Native Project.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce Swan of Plummer; his father, David Scarborough Sr. of Tacoma; four sisters, Daveeta and Caryl Swan, both of Plummer, Dalberta Sutherland of Spokane and Darcia Scarborough of Tacoma; and his grandparents, Bertha Swan of Desmet and Loren Swan of Tekoa.

Dagna Shaw Greenacres

Graveside service for Dagna S. Shaw, 87, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Pines Cemetery. Memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shaw, who was born in Canada, died Tuesday.

She married Duane Shaw in Kalispell, Mont., in 1933.

They moved to Spokane in 1942 and she worked as a cook at Edgecliff Sanitarium for 20 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Shaw did volunteer work for the Spokane Valley Center, Spokane Valley Food Bank and Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

Her husband died in 1994.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by three sons, Richard Shaw of Yelm, Wash., Rod Shaw of Post Falls and Bud Shaw of Redmond, Wash.; a brother, Norman Borgen of Columbia Falls, Mont.; two sisters, Olga Price and Maybelle McPoland, both of Seattle; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Good Samaritan Center or Zion Lutheran Church.

Elizabeth Williams George Williams Spokane

Joint memorial service will be held for Elizabeth “Betty” J. Williams, 71, and her husband, George L. Williams, 69, at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillyard Baptist Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements and cremation.

Mrs. Williams, who was born in Pennsylvania, died August 6.

Her husband, who was born in Idaho, died Sunday.

She worked as a nurse. He worked as a salesman at Skaggs Automotive. The Williams were members of Hillyard Baptist Church.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a sister, Pat Bruchstein of Stroudsburg, Pa.

Mr. Williams is survived by two brothers, William Williams of Spokane and Robert Williams of Seattle; and a sister, Mayme Montgomery of Potlatch, Idaho.
