Two Strikers Arrested

Two more striking UPS employees have been arrested in the stabbing of Rod Carter, a former linebacker for the University of Miami and a UPS driver who crossed the picket line, bringing to six the number of men charged in the attack.

Carter was stopped at a red light in his delivery truck last Thursday when he was attacked and stabbed five times. Carter was a starter on the Hurricanes’ 1987 national championship team.

Marcelo Rodriguez, 27, of Hialeah, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery and being a principal in the crime. Werner Haechler, 32, of Miami, is charged with aggravated battery.
