Blosser’s Big Night Leads To Tribe Win Indians Remain Four Games Behind Front-Running Boise

Doug Blosser drove in six runs, including three on a third-inning homer, to lead the Spokane Indians to a 9-4 win Sunday over the Yakima Bears.

The Indians (35-24) remain four games behind Boise after the Hawks pounded Salem-Keizer 14-2.

Spokane’s Corey Thurmond (1-0) picked up the win in his second start of the season.

The Indians scored twice in the top of the second to erase a 1-0 Bears lead. Juan LeBron doubled and scored on a single by Blosser. Jeremy Hill drove in Blosser.

Spokane took control of the game in the third inning.

Goefrey Tomlinson doubled to left. Joe Caruso legged out an infield hit and Blosser drove a pitch over the fence for a 5-1 lead.

Spokane scored three more times in the fourth to take command.

Rico Montas drew a lead off walk and scored on a double by Hill for the Indians’ sixth run. Rich Petru singled to center to score Hill. Consecutive walks to Caruso, Mike Brambilla and Blosser plated Petru.

Yakima’s Cash Riley hit solo homers in the sixth and eighth innings to pull the Bears within four.

The Indians final run came in the ninth when Brambilla doubled and later scored on a groundout by Blosser.

Yakima, which fell to 19-40, and Spokane open a three-game series tonight at Seafirst Stadium. Chris Wilson (2-3, 4.69) gets the start for Spokane, while Adrian Burnside (6-2, 4.68) gets the nod for Yakima.
