Sean Armstrong Serving As Member Of Americorps

Sean Armstrong, of Spokane, is a member of the Denver campus of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. Sean joined hundreds of other young people in a 10-month residential program. This program focuses on getting things done in the areas of environment, education, public safety and unmet human needs.

Two Spokane-area students have received scholarships to attend the University of Texas at Dallas:

Mercedee Renz, a graduate of University High School, received a Presidential Scholarship, and Nathan Fewel, a North Central High School graduate, received an Academic Distinction Scholarship.

Kelcey Milbrandt and Jonathan Shoemaker graduated from Creighton University this spring.

Milbrandt, of Colbert, received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Shoemaker, of Chattaroy, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Matthew Preston and Todd Grubb, both Mead High School graduates, have been initiated into Beta Theta Pi International fraternity at Eastern Washington University.

Preston is the son of Darnelle and Cameron Preston; Grubb is the son of Steven and Jane Grubb.

Nathan Wilbourn has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York. He was nominated by Rep. George Nethercutt.

Wilbourn is a graduate of Pullman High School and the son of Dick and Margy Wilbourn.

Jenny Adams, daughter of Maxey and Vivian Adams of Spokane, received a teaching assistantship in the biology department at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. She also accepted a summer internship at the Wildlife Science Center in Forest Lake, Minn.
