Sale Wins 5th Round Of Liberty Cup

The fifth round of the Liberty Lake Ladies 18-Hole Golf Club Liberty Cup was won by Noreen Sale.

Sale shot a net round of 65 to advance to the finals of the annual tournament.

During the concurrent putting contest, Jean Hatcher and Yvonne Splan shared A flight win with 29.

Dorothy Womach and Sale had 28 in B flight. Betty Harmon won C flight with 31. Eleanor Seefried and Marty Liebelt shared D flight with 35.

July Eclectic awards went to Kerri Barham with low gross 72 and Gloria Cash with low net 61 in A flight.

B flight leaders were Marge Tibbitts with 79 and Sale with 60. In C, Cathy Whitley shot a best round of 82 and Marcea Seimers netted 54. D was won by Kitty Duval with 95 and Carol Schultz with 59.

Two weeks at Painted Hills

The past two weeks of medal play for Painted Hills Golf Course ladies club members sounded a familiar note.

Caroline Geiger won A flight low gross honors with scores of 42 and 45.

In B flight, Sandy Saty and Kathy Perry had successive 56s. In C flight, Lynn Knight shot 58 and Linda Haft had 56.

D flight was won by Cathy Diehl with 69 and Marion McLellan with 63. No-handicap winners were Wendy Sloan with 54 and Penny Smith with 58.

Net winners were Stacey Johnston at 36 and Sheryl VanDinter at 35 in A. Elaine Lukes had 40 and Shelly Van 38 in B. Ellen Spalding had 35 and Shanda Simpson had 34 in C. Sheryl O’Keefe had 32 and Stacy Blankenship 34 in D.

Action at Valley View

During the past two weeks at Valley View Golf Course, A flight golfer Anne Meyers led the way with rounds of 42 and 43.

In B flight, Kay Pritzl shot 55 and Loriene Rankin shot 53. In C flight, Emma Long had rounds of 54 and 57.

Flight A net winners were Dee Elder, Marjie Haser and Min Arnold with 28s.

In B flight Marie Romain had scores of 28 and 27.

C flight leaders were Marilyn McMahon with 27 and Florence Keller with 26.

Northwest Cup Soccer tourney

This weekend the Mountain View Soccer Complex will be site of the fifth annual Northwest Cup Soccer Tournament.

The three-day event, beginning Friday, will include 140 teams from Canada, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Washington.

The tournament was begun by Manny Faridnia, director of the Spokane Soccer Club Falcons.

Faridnia, former coach at Ferris High School and an engineer at Hewlett-Packard, oversees the premier and Olympic Development Program club of 400 soccer players, on teams ages 12 through 19.
