Four Spokane Youths Arrested After Series Of Car Thefts, Chase Three Cars Stolen In Post Falls, One In Spokane

Four Spokane juveniles were arrested by the Washington State Patrol Friday morning after a string of alleged car thefts and a high-speed chase.

The youths allegedly stole a red 1988 Isuzu in Spokane, drove to Post Falls Mazda and stole three other cars, police said.

Post Falls police discovered one of the stolen cars near Post Falls Mazda at about 6:30 a.m.

The used Mazda was abandoned in the middle of Seltice Way with a window broken out, the driver’s side door open, and the engine running, said Lt. Dick Halligan of the Post Falls Police Department.

A short while later, an employee of the car dealership arrived and discovered two other cars were missing. The Washington State Patrol gave chase to a speeding car moments later that fit the description of one of the stolen cars, said Post Falls Detective Rod Plank.

After a brief chase, the car rammed a curb and a tire was flattened, Plank said. The four occupants were arrested and taken to the Spokane County Jail.

They are all boys, aged 13, 14, 15 and 17 years old, he said.

The Washington State Patrol also found the two other stolen cars in the median of Interstate 90 near the state line. The juveniles were charged with first degree possession of stolen property in Washington. Idaho charges are pending.
