Glass Art Exhibition At Arbor Crest Winery

Nina Culver Correspondent

Arbor Crest Winery will host Glass on the Grass from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, an exhibition and sale of glass art.

This year’s exhibition features 22 glass artists from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. A variety of styles will be represented, including blown glass, fused glass, painted glass, leaded glass, and torchworked beads. The band Jazz Conspiracy will perform from 1 to 5 p.m.

The winery will offer free wine tasting during the exhibition hours. Since alcohol will be served at the free event, attendance is limited those 21 and older.

To reach Arbor Crest, 4703 N. Fruithill Road, take the Argonne Exit off I-90 and head north. Turn right on Upriver Drive, proceed 1 mile and then turn left onto Fruithill Road. Signs mark the rest of the way.

World-class art here

The Douglas Gallery, 120 N. Wall Suite 100, has scoured the private collections the world over to put together its current display of etchings by Rembrandt, Renoir, Cezanne and Manet.

The etchings are all originals, made from the actual artists’ copper plates, many of which are no longer in existence. A color lithograph by Picasso, “Frontispiece Mourlot III,” is also on display. All pieces are available for purchase.

Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays. Private showings are available on request; call 624-4179.

Art school classes

The Spokane Art School is accepting registrations for its fall classes, Sept. 15 through Nov. 15. More than 65 classes will be offered at a variety of age and skill levels in many forms of art, including ceramics, watercolor painting, bookhand calligraphy, drawing, sculpture and photography.

The session will also include master classes: Steve Adams on glassblowing, Donald Clegg on still-life watercolor, Nora Hall on classic European carving and Ken Smith on infrared photography.

Complete class and workshop schedules are available at the school, 920 N. Howard, or by calling 328-0900.
