Toddler Dies Following Mom Into Burning Home
A 2-year-old boy died early Sunday after following his mother back into a burning trailer home, authorities said.
Jacomb High’s mother had safely removed him from the home before she returned to rescue her other two children, county Fire Chief Tom Martin said. They managed to escape through a bedroom window, but Jacomb, who had followed his mother back in, was engulfed by flames.
The mother, Robin High, 37, was in critical condition late Sunday in the burn unit at St. John’s Regional Health Center.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Martin said.
