Circus Of Shame
Actress Kim Basinger, above, was in Albuquerque, N.M., Tuesday to appeal to the federal government to revoke the license of King Royal Circus, the owner of an elephant discovered dead here Aug. 6. Basinger has actively opposed the use of elephants in traveling shows. Albuquerque police discovered the dead elephant, two live ones and eight llamas Aug. 6 inside a poorly ventilated, 40-foot trailer parked in a hotel parking lot. Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture suspended the circus’s exhibitors license for 21 days. “Entertainment Tonight” plans to air Basinger’s appeal tonight.
