Potlatch Takes Space In Seafirst Building

From Staff And Wire Reports

Potlatch Corp., will occupy the 11th floor of the Seafirst Building when the timber giant moves its headquarters office to Spokane in mid-September.

The company will move about 30 employees from its San Francisco and Walnut Creek offices. Its corporate staff here will total 40, company officials said.

Potlatch headquarters oversee 6,700 employees, 18 operating plants and $1.6 billion in annual sales. The company owns 1.5 million acres of timber land in Idaho, Minnesota and Arkansas.

The headquarters move is a homecoming of sorts for several Potlatch executives. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Richards lives in Hayden Lake, as does board member Charles Weaver. Richards’ twin brother, Tom, is president of Idaho Forest Industries in Coeur d’Alene. And vice chairman George “Fritz” Jewett Jr. grew up in Spokane.
