After-School Programs Offered Kids Ages 6-10 May Participate

Five North Side elementary schools will be offering satellite after-school programs again this year.

The programs, geared for 6- to 10-year-olds, are funded through community development funds and are free at all schools except Bemiss.

Supervised recreation leaders, provided by the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department, plan activities, including crafts, games, nature hikes, music and field trips.

The program begins in September at Bemiss, Regal, Logan, Longfellow and Whitman schools. Children meet each school day from 3-5:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room.

The program begins Tuesday at Bemiss, where it’s combined with the Express program. There is a sliding fee.

The recreation program is free at Regal, Whitman, Logan and Longfellow and begins Sept. 29.

More information is available by calling the Northeast Youth Center at 482-0708.
