Two Girls Arrested After Reckless Joy Ride

Sheriff’s deputies arrested two girls Wednesday who stole a car from Honeysuckle Beach, gassed it up and went on a high-speed joy ride.

The girls, whose names and ages were not released, intended to drive the car to Las Vegas but made it only to Ramsey Park before they were arrested on charges of grand theft and car burglary, according to a Kootenai County sheriff’s report.

Witnesses told deputies the girls chose the gray 1984 Volvo from the beach parking lot after finding its keys inside. Deputies said the girls also got into a pickup and a Nissan Maxima, taking a cigarette lighter from the car.

Motorists reported seeing the Volvo driving recklessly near Ramsey Road and Fairway Drive and at the Fairway Grocery Store, where the girls stopped for gas.

A resident began following the girls when they raced the car past his house. The man watched as the car jumped a curb at Daly Drive and Kathleen Avenue and pulled into the parking lot at Ramsey Park, where the girls ditched the vehicle. , DataTimes
