Earl Spencer’s former mistress, Chantal Collopy, says she realized her affair with Princess Diana’s brother was over when he said he would never accept her two children. The two-year affair began with an “instant attraction” when the former model and the 33-year-old earl both married at the time met at a 1994 birthday party, Chantal, 37, said. Spencer asked several times that she marry him, but then had “a panic attack … We had an argument and he said ‘I must let you know that I will never accept your children’ and I said that was the end,” Collopy said. Collopy, in an unusual twist, appeared in a Cape Town court last week supporting the earl’s estranged wife, Victoria Lockwood, in her divorce battle against the earl.
