15 Bulldogs Are Iel Stars

Not every starter on the Sandpoint football team made first team all-league, but it was close.

Coaches selected 15 Sandpoint players to the All-Inland Empire League first team.

Senior wide receiver Caleb Bowman was named the league’s most valuable player. Running backs Scott Bushnell of Lake City, Kurt Berkley of Sandpoint and Rick McCrery of Lewiston were named offensive backs of the year.

Senior linebackers Ian Johnson of Lake City and Grant Wright of Lewiston were co-MVPs on defense. Dave Mattingley of Sandpoint and Cameron Christiansen of Post Falls were named defensive backs of the year.

Pat Williams of Sandpoint was tabbed offensive lineman of the year and Post Falls’ Matt Smith and Lake City’s Ryan Duncan defensive linemen of the year. The first team is listed in the State Sheet, C5.

Former Card honored

Montana State-Northern’s Steve Helm, an ex-North Idaho College basketball player, has been selected the Frontier Conference player of the week after the 6-foot-1 senior guard scored 39 points in two victories.

Volleyball tickets on sale

Tickets for the first two rounds of the NCAA Volleyball Tournament Saturday and Sunday in Pullman are on sale at the Beasley Coliseum ticket office.

Washington State, which plays Lehigh at 8 p.m. in a first-round match as part of Saturday’s doubleheader, said that because of the number of inquiries for Rose Bowl tickets, fans wishing to obtain volleyball tickets can do so only at the Beasley Coliseum ticket office from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. through Friday.

Tickets are $20 reserved for two days, $12 for one day, with general admission $14 for adults, $6 for students and $4 for youth for two days, and $8, $5 and $2 for one. , DataTimes
