Man Accused Of Grand Theft

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 22-year-old Coeur d’Alene man has been arrested on charges that he and his wife stole more than $8,000 worth of belongings from their landlord and sold them to a consignment shop.

Clinton D. Armstrong was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on Saturday on a charge of grand theft. Armstrong admitted stealing a rug, trampoline, collectibles and other items from a woman that rented him space in her basement, according to a Kootenai County sheriff’s report.

The stolen items, valued at $8,675 by the landlord, were then sold to a Hayden consignment store for about $445, the report said.

Armstrong’s 21-year-old wife, Laurie, knew about the thefts, which occurred over the past three months, and also will be charged, according to the sheriff’s report. Laurie Armstrong is 8-1/2 months pregnant and has not been arrested.
