Man Charged With Killing Bus Driver

From Staff And Wire Reports

James Edward Iverson was charged Monday with first-degree murder in the shooting death of an Orient bus driver, Stevens County Prosecutor Jerry Wetle said.

Iverson, who remains at Eastern State Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, was jailed last Tuesday.

He is accused of shooting and killing Orient School District bus driver Frank M. Eslick, and firing random shots at cars driving past his house just east of Barstow, about 90 miles north of Spokane.

Eslick was shot in the head when he stopped the bus on McNitt Road to drop school children off in front of Iverson’s home.

He died at the scene.

Wetle said more charges against Iverson are expected.
