Christmas Plays, Concerts Presented By Area Churches

The holiday season is upon us, which means area churches are putting the final touches on a wide variety of Christmas plays and concerts. There’s something for everyone who wants to get fully into the meaning of Christmas.

Here are some of the offerings:

First Assembly of God Church, 828 W. Indiana, will present several performances of a musical Christmas production called “From Heaven’s Throne.” The church’s “singing Christmas tree” choir will also perform. The performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance at the church or at the door. The church is located at 828 W. Indiana. For more information, call the church at 326-9332.

Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt, will hold a special evening prayer service each Wednesday during Advent at 7 p.m. All are invited to attend.

St. Peter Lutheran Church will also hold special worship services at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday during Advent. The church is located at 4620 N. Regal.

Whitworth Community Presbyterian Church, along with the new Colbert Community Presbyterian Church, will hold an Advent Festival from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. There will be crafts projects and activities for adults and children of all ages. Dinner will be served at 5, followed by a potluck dessert. A prayer service will be held at 6.

The cost is $2.50 per person or $6 per family, which includes craft supplies, an Advent devotional book and dinner. Child care will be available by registration only.

Westview Congregational Church, 3405 W. Bismark, will host a holiday bazaar from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. A chili lunch will be served from noon to 2 p.m. The bazaar will feature Christmas decorations, baked goods, homemade candies, gift and baby items.

Rummage sale at Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington, will hold a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Spirituality and sexuality workshops

The Spokane Church of Divine Man, 2803 N. Lincoln, will host two workshops Friday at 7 p.m. One workshop is for women only, and the other will cater to men. Each workshop will focus on the uniqueness of being either male or female and how spirituality relates to these differences.
