Dryer Sheets Scent Clothes With ‘Ck Be’

The Washington Post

What’s that spinning between you and your Calvins? Designer dryer sheets. Status products for the laundry room have arrived: the latest product from the tightly controlled design aesthetic of Calvin Klein - “cK be” scented dryer sheets.

They are part of a new laundry helpers kit from Calvin Klein Cosmetics aimed at propelling sales of “cK be,” one of the company’s “shared” fragrances (good for guys and girls).

The package ($52) consists of a box with a plastic handle - about the size of a box of detergent, by no coincidence. Inside are a matte black bottle of “cK be” eau de toilette and a sleek solid stick deodorant. Then, for added chic, there’s a roomy black laundry bag with sturdy shoulder strap and a packet of five fragrant plain white dryer sheets - for “sexy smelling clothes.”

The fragrance already has been marketed with graphic black and white ads. The message: “be good. be bad. just be.” The new theme is: “be dirty. be clean.”

There is a somewhat-alarming warning printed on the dryer sheet packet. “CAUTION: AVOID OVERDOSING,” it says. “When drying small loads or single garments, add only one-half sheet. The dryer sheets are not for use on children’s sleepwear or other garments labeled as flame resistant, as it may reduce flame resistance.”

be careful.
