Kids’ Rooms Change In 3 Stages

The Orange County Register

The evolution of a child’s room from infancy to teen years can be broken into three periods, according to the Home Furnishings Council, which knows about such things.

Up to ages 2 or 3, the nursery theme can remain unchanged, with the exception of a bed eventually replacing a crib. From then on, kiss it goodbye. What the child wants comes into play.

By age 4, the child can express his or her preferences - a room designed around a favorite book or TV character, cars, sports, dolls, animals, trains.

At adolescence, the emphasis will turn to a more grown-up look. Look for furnishings that encourage hanging out - a comfy chair or recliner for listening to music.
