Obituaries

Andrea Gillund Spokane

Visitation for Andrea M. Gillund, 57, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

An 18-year resident of Spokane, Mrs. Gillund died Monday.

She was born in Warren, Minn., and graduated in 1958 from Winona (Minn.) High School.

She received her nursing degree and bachelor of science degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

Mrs. Gillund worked as a registered nurse for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis and also at the University of Minnesota Hospital in the child maternal health department.

She then moved to Vermont where she was an emergency room instructor at the University of Vermont School of Nursing in Burlington. In 1979 she moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Gillund was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, a teacher of Bible study fellowship, a member of Interplayers Theater board of trustees, and served on the Medical Auxiliary Board for Spokane County Medical Society, a volunteer counselor at the Crisis Pregnancy Center and was a member of Spokane Symphony Associates.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dean; two daughters, Kirsten Duprey of Broomfield, Colo., and Solveig Gillund of Seattle; and a brother, Lorens Brynestad of Minneapolis.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Study Fellowship, c/o St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, the Crisis Pregnancy Center or to The Christ Clinic.

Ethel Ohler Spokane

Graveside service for Ethel B. Ohler, 81, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Tekoa (Wash.) Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the First Free Methodist Church in Spokane. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ohler, who was born in Benewah County, Idaho, died Sunday.

She graduated in 1934 from Tekoa (Wash.) High School and moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Ohler worked as a seamstress for many years at the Davenport Hotel. She later retired from Pacific Trail as a seamstress.

She was a member of the First Free Methodist Church.

Her husband, Alva Ohler, died in 1964.

She is survived by two sons, Arthur Ohler of Valleyford and Gerald Ohler of Pasco; a daughter, Lillian Pederson of Vancouver, Wash.; three brothers, John Ohler of Spokane, Lloyd Ohler of Arlington, Va., and Floyd Ohler of Spanaway, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

June Anderson Medical Lake

Funeral service for June Anderson, 70, will be at 11 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Anderson, who was born in Oakland, Calif., died Tuesday.

She graduated from high school in Oakland and in 1957 moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Anderson was a homemaker and a member of the Central and Cheney Seventh-day Adventist churches.

Her husband, Raymond Anderson, preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Edward Erickson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Robert Erickson of Otis Orchards and William Erickson of Ojai, Calif.; a daughter, Dee Erickson of Medical Lake; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sylvia ‘Dolly’ Good Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Sylvia D. “Dolly” Good, 61, will be held later at the Rathdrum (Idaho) Kingdom Hall. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Good, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

She attended schools in Spokane before graduating from Reardan (Wash.) High School. She moved to Alaska in 1988, then to Rathdrum in 1991.

Ms. Good was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Rathdrum.

She moved to the Coeur d’Alene Rehabilitation and Wellness Center two years ago.

Survivors include a son, Gordon Good of Oregon; two brothers, Leo Collins of Oregon and Otis Clough of California; and two sisters, Murel Blackbird of Deer Park and Joyce Payment of Rathdrum.

Erwin Towery Centralia, Wash.

No service will be held for Erwin James Towery, 71, at the family’s request. Greenhills Memorial in Kelso, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Towery, who was born in Texas, died Saturday.

He graduated from high school in Texas and served in the Army.

Mr. Towery worked for West Coast Grocery in Spokane from 1970 until his retirement in 1986.

He moved to California in 1988 and then a year later to Centralia.

Mr. Towery is survived by two sons, Gregg Towery of Kent, Wash., and Mark Towery of Nine Mile Falls; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wesley Brandon Tonasket, Wash.

Memorial service for Wesley Allison Brandon, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.

Mr. Brandon, who was born in Bayview, Idaho, died Tuesday.

He worked in the timber industry and later at Hanford during the Manhattan Project.

Mr. Brandon then joined the Bureau of Reclamation, serving as a civil engineer for 35 years. He helped with the O’Sullivan Dam, East Low Canal near Warden, Wash., and the Whitestone irrigation project near Tonasket.

His wife of 53 years, Dorothy, died in 1994.

Survivors include three sons, Kelly Brandon of Seattle, Michael Brandon of Spokane and Terry Brandon of Pomeroy, Wash.; a daughter, Colleen Rugg of Spokane; a sister, Darlita Reed of Post Falls; and a brother, Melvin Brandon of Oregon.

Robert Dansereau Hayden Lake, Idaho

Memorial service for Robert Eli Dansereau, 79, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dansereau, who was born in North Dakota, died Tuesday.

He moved to North Idaho in 1951 and had worked at Van Creamery, Forest Brothers Wrecking, and then for Potlatch Industries, retiring after 30 years.

Mr. Dansereau was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mercedes; three sons, Delon Dansereau of Hayden Lake, Russell Dansereau of Pomeroy, Wash., and Dwight Dansereau of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Delaine Rorvig of Post Falls and Vida Dansereau of Hayden Lake; a brother, Rollo Dansereau of Wisconsin; one sister, Winifred Murphy of Meridian, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pearl ‘Pat’ Thaut Ritzville, Wash.

Memorial Mass for Pearl L. “Pat” Thaut, 72, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Ritzville. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Thaut, who was born in Worley, Idaho, died Nov. 22.

She was a homemaker and did volunteer work.

Mrs. Thaut was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of Indians, St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Her husband, Donald, died in 1989.

She is survived by a daughter, Verna Taylor of Spokane; a son, Robert Hurst of Seattle; a brother, Rexford Chamberlain of Claremont, Calif.; two sisters, Leona Hurst of Spokane and Lavina Dahmen of Seattle; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Corenia Olin Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Corenia M. Olin, 98, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Spirit Lake (Idaho) Presbyterian Church. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Olin, who was born in Medical Lake, died Tuesday.

In 1909 she moved to North Idaho from Medical Lake, and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Olin was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Spirit Lake Grandmothers Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1473.

She was voted Grandmother of the Year in Spirit Lake several times.

Her husband, Charles, died in 1957.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond and Alvin Olin, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Wayne Olin of Lewiston; a daughter, Winifred Luders of Spokane; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

C. Paul Sage Ione, Wash.

Private services will be held for Clarence Paul Sage, 84, at a later date. Inurnment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Sage, who was born in Elk, died Tuesday.

He worked as a miner in the Pend Oreille and Grandview mines and logged in the Pend Oreille County area.

In 1937 he married Helen Derrick in Newport.

He retired from Ione Elementary School as custodian.

His wife died in 1994.

Mr. Sage is survived by a son, Gary Sage of Elk; two daughters, Jo Rose of Spokane and Janet Sage of Ione; three grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ione Rescue.

Helen Killian Spokane

Memorial service for Helen L. Killian, 92, will be held at a later date. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Killian, a 33-year Spokane resident, died Friday.

She was born in Heyworth, Ill., and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 151 of Oroville, Wash., El Karnak Temple 6 Daughters of the Nile, Ladies of Sadir Khan Grotto, Widows courtesy of Nile Temple, White Rose Chapter 161 Order of Eastern Star, Jewel Court 50 of Amaranth and Women of the Moose.

Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death. She is survived by four cousins.

Dennis Fitzgerald Spokane

Graveside service for Dennis P. Fitzgerald, 58, was Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Mr. Fitzgerald, who was born in Salt Lake City, died Saturday.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam war, and worked for Ford Motor Company for 10 years while living in California. He moved to Spokane 21 years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Dianne; three daughters, Donna Fitzgerald and Faith Sawyer, both of Spokane, and Susan Draper of Othello, Wash.; a son, Michael Fitzgerald of Spokane; a brother, Robert Fitzgerald of Sacramento, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Jean McConnaughey Spokane

A memorial celebration for Jean McConnaughey, 46, will be Dec. 13 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the home of Bruce and Arneda Toillion.

Mrs. McConnaughey, who was born in California, died Sunday at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston from leukemia.

She graduated from high school in Santa Rosa, Calif., and received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of California, Davis, in 1973. She then received her MBA from Gonzaga University.

Mrs. McConnaughey was a homemaker and owned several antique businesses.

She volunteered with Moran Prairie Elementary School and was involved in youth soccer.

Survivors include her husband, John; a daughter, Mariah McConnaughey, and a son, Cory McConnaughey, both at home; her mother, Iris Sabelman of Santa Rosa; a brother, Eric Sabelman of Menlo Park, Calif.; and two sisters, Karen Famini of Santa Rosa and Rose Ellen Jacuk of Woodland, Calif.
