Two Officers Added To Traffic Safety Unit

From Staff Reports

The streets of Coeur d’Alene have gained two new city C.A.R.E. officers in an effort to remind drivers of vehicle safety.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department has added five-year veterans Doug Demetre and Todd Hedge as traffic officers to C.A.R.E. - Community Accident Reduction through Education. The officers have been assigned to separate areas of town to increase driver awareness in high accident areas.

Officer Demetre has taken over the southeast part of town and emphasizes defensive driving and seat belt safety.

Officer Hedge is the traffic officer in the northeast part of town and will alert drivers to the high accident areas on Government Way, and Fourth and 15th Streets.
