Sherer Powers Pirates’ Victory

Andrea Sherer poured in 35 points to lead the Whitworth women’s basketball team to its first win of the season, an 83-73 decision over Willamette in a Northwest Conference of Independent Colleges opener at Salem, Ore.

Sherer connected on 12 of 20 field-goal attempts and 11 of 18 from the free-throw line. She also had nine rebounds.

Kristi Pentzer added 12 points and Kristen Davis 10 for the Pirates, 1-2 overall.

Willamette, 1-2 overall, was led by Kirstin Anderson’s 20 points.
