Former Cda Athlete Receives Second-Team Njcaa Honors
Former Coeur d’Alene High three-sport standout Ben Davis of Ricks College was named the second-team placekicker on the 1997 National Junior College Athletic Association All-America football team.
The selections were released Tuesday.
Davis, a freshman, hopes to move on to an NCAA Division I school next fall. He said earlier this fall that he planned to stay at the Rexburg, Idaho, school for just one year.
Davis connected on 8 of 15 field goals during the regular season, including a 62-yarder that may have set a national JC record. He was 48 for 60 on extra points.
Ricks was ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA for most of the season until it dropped a 37-27 decision in its regular-season finale against the Air Force Academy’s junior varsity. , DataTimes
