Gst Launches Phone Services Here

GST Telecom Washington launched local dial tone service in Spokane on Tuesday, as well as other telephone services.

GST, a subsidiary of Vancouver, Wa.-based GST Telecommunications Inc., opened its network to downtown customers in September 1996.

The fiber-optic loop connected them to long-distance carriers, but without a switch in place, GST could not provide local dial tone, centrex or other services.

Mitzi Sachs, GST’s general manager for Washington operations, said the company also offers data and Internet services.

The launch in Spokane, and another in the East Bay area of California, brings to seven the number of markets in which GST provides dial tone. , DataTimes
