Pit Bulls Attack 3 In New York Borough Of Queens

New York Times

Three people were attacked Tuesday in Queens by three pit bulls that escaped from their owner’s home and rampaged down a street, police said. Two of the dogs made their way into a supermarket, terrorizing customers.

One of the three victims, Willie Gouldbourne, 70, was in serious condition Tuesday night with bites on his face and hands, authorities said.

The episode began around noon Tuesday near the Associated Supermarket at 134-16 Liberty Ave. in the Richmond Hill section of Queens, authorities said. By the time it was over, police had shot two dogs with bullets, killing them, and a third with a tranquilizer dart, said Detective Joseph Pentangelo, a police spokesman.

Gouldbourne and the two other victims, Danielle Brown, 24, and Art Baldero, 35, were treated at Jamaica Hospital. Michael Hinck, a hospital spokesman, said Brown and Baldero suffered less serious wounds.

The owner of the dogs, Felix Miranda, received a summons for having unleashed dogs.

He refused to comment Tuesday night.
