M’S Start ‘98 Season With Their Own March Madness

The Seattle Mariners, who have won two A.L. West titles in the past three seasons, will open their new season against the Cleveland Indians in the Kingdome on Tuesday, March 31 at 5:05 p.m.

The Mariners will play the majors’ two newest teams, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The A.L. Devil Rays will play in Seattle May 22-24. The Mariners face the N.L. Diamondbacks in Phoenix June 26-28.

The Mariners will play 16 games against the five N.L. West clubs, starting June 5 against L.A.

The Mariners will have 12 homestands, beginning with Cleveland (March 31-April 1), Boston (April 3-5) and the New York Yankees (April 6-8). They finish at home against Oakland (Sept. 21-23) and Texas (Sept. 24-27).
