Harley Riders Plan 4-Day Run To Benefit Charity

Associated Press

Some 5,000 “Hog” enthusiasts, the people who ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles, are expected to stop in Livingstone next summer en route from the coast of Washington state to Sturgis, S.D.

The inaugural Great American Harley Run has chosen Livingston as an overnight stop on its four-day trip, said Patty Kiderlen, executive director of the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce.

“The event will benefit so many,” she said. “The business community will be so affected by this it will be phenomenal.”

She said the charity run is partly to benefit the Burned Children Recovery Foundation.

The group is scheduled through between July 27 and July 31.

The bikers leave the starting point at different times, so that will mean about 1,200 to 1,500 people coming through Livingston per day, she said.

Sturgis is the site of an annual biker convention that includes a rally of Harley-Davidson riders.

The Livingston chamber will be the primary sponsor of the tour while it is in town, and Kiderlen said that involves lining up places to camp, some meals and security for the visitors.
