Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Passing Forged Traveler’s Checks

From Staff Reports

Spokane police have arrested a man they suspect of passing forged traveler’s checks all over the city.

Roger J. Bryan, 49, is being held in the Spokane County Jail on 10 counts of forgery.

Bryan was arrested Wednesday after a clerk at Burlington Coat Factory became suspicious of him, police said.

He apparently passed a forged check at the store Tuesday and went back Wednesday to try to pass another, police said.

The clerk recognized him and called for her supervisor, which prompted Bryan to leave the store. The clerk watched him get into a taxi.

Police tracked the cab to a liquor store in the 1800 block of West First and arrested Bryan there.

Officers said they found two forged checks on him, and jail workers discovered six more in his shoe.

Authorities are still looking for a woman seen with Bryan earlier in the week. , DataTimes
