Teenager Arrested In Robbery, Beating

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 15-year old boy was arrested early Saturday for allegedly robbing two teenagers at gunpoint, then beating one of them up with a baseball bat.

Police spokesman Dick Cottam said the victims, who were riding their bicycles at Standard and Princeton about midnight, reported that three or four boys pulled up alongside them in a car. One showed them a handgun, the other a baseball bat.

The boy with the bat demanded a coat and a wallet. The boys in the car took the items, then began hitting one of the victims with the bat. The victims escaped, and the robbers took off in their car.

One victim was treated and released from an area hospital.

Police, who tracked down and arrested the boy they say was wielding the bat, are still investigating the attack.
