Sorenstam Honored

Player of the Year Annika Sorenstam and scoring leader Karrie Webb took home the top honors at the annual LPGA awards luncheon.

Sorenstam, 27, won six times on the LPGA Tour this year, finished in the top three 14 times in 22 events and took home a record $1.2 million to earn a Rolex watch and another silver cup to go with the one she earned in 1995.

Webb, 22, won three times in 1997 and captured the Vare Trophy with a scoring average of 70.00, the lowest in the 45 years the award has existed.

Lisa Hackney was named Rookie of the Year honors.
