Tar Heels Top Poll

The North Carolina Tar Heels (10-0) moved up one spot to replace Duke at No. 1 after the Blue Devils (9-1) lost 81-73 at Michigan on Saturday. North Carolina was last ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press poll during the 1994-95 season.

North Carolina received 68 firstplace votes and 1,747 points from the national media panel.

Kansas (11-1) moved from third to second with one first-place vote and 1,612 points.

The Blue Devils were third with one No. 1 vote and 1,599 points, and were followed by Kentucky, Arizona and South Carolina.

Utah moved up two spots to seventh and was followed by Purdue, Stanford and Xavier.

UCLA moved up one place to 11th.
